  • Cargo and Logistics Industry Responds to Ecuador Disaster

    Cargo companies working in Caribbean are contributing in the progress of these countries and now the Disaster Response Workforce to respond in Ecuador

    The air cargo transport and road logistics industries have strongly responded to the deadly earthquake in Ecuador and in order to help the victims of this 7.8 magnitude earthquake they begun contributing toward relief efforts to help those in Ecuador affected by a giant earthquake in the remote areas of the country at the weekend.

    The Deadly Disaster

    On Saturday evening, the country used to be struck by dint of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake and not only that but more than 300 very strong and some weak aftershocks leaving more than 450 individuals dead and not less than 500 persons injured, according to the international press news and local media reports from Ecuador.

    How cargo companies Responded?

    How they will help?

    They’ll coordinate incoming international help, preparing it for onward transportation to areas affected by the quake. DRT manager Gilberto Castro said in an interview to the local press that whenever a common disaster strikes, an express response is needed to get imperative remedy presents to men and women in need. Efficient handling of incoming help by authorities is also very essential and we are using the DHL Cargo in this regard as DHL has experience of moving cargo in emergency.

    Any other cargo companies are there to help?

Emirates international are now operating to 142 destinations in 80 countries across six continents. Emirates is the world’s biggest international airline. It is the seventh largest airline in the world in terms of revenue, and a major airline in the Middle East in terms of income, fleet size, and passengers carried.

    Emirates cargo airlines received its first performance award in 1989. Since then, Emirates Cargo has received more than 100 international awards. In 2015, Emirates cargo became the largest air cargo transporter in the world.

    Cathay Pacific

    Cathay Pacific is a famous cargo service. Cathay Pacific is a Hong Kong-based cargo service which is serves 200 destinations across 52 countries. Cathay Pacific was established in 1946 and won the title of world’s largest cargo airline in 2010. It is four times winner of the World’s Best Airline Award.

    The Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal was built in 2011 at an estimated cost of £40 million, confirming its clout in the air cargo industry.
