Send a Mobile Phone from UK to India

India, one of the biggest countries in the world has made courier service very appropriate for companies. It is one of the world’s biggest economies and an attraction for all potential investors.

The population of 1.2 billion means it is very easy to find the necessary workforce for all kinds of work. India is also the main hub of South Asia, which makes it an interesting destination for businessmen, but also visitors for spending holidays.

Why people want to use imported smartphones

Mobile phones are improving with each passing day. A lot of research work is going on to improve the usability of smartphones and also increase features in them.

People usually feel the need to import smartphones because a lot of smartphones are restricted to a certain area. Many areas of the world get a specific feature while the same smartphone in another area of the world does not receive it.

Samsung, for its flagship devices, the S-series uses a Snapdragon Chip for phones provided in the US while it uses an Exynos chipset on its other models of the same device. So, due to this main reason, people feel the desire to use a product purchased from abroad.

Getting the product ready for delivery

A smartphone is a very intricate piece of hardware. The part which might create problems during the shipping of a mobile phone is its battery. Smartphone batteries are made of lithium-ion and are highly flammable, which might cause the battery to explode if there is enough pressure.

    Send Courier by Air

So, extreme care must be taken when shipping the batteries. If the battery is inside the product, then in most occasions, it is safe but if the battery is faulty like it was on a lot of Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s, then it becomes extremely dangerous for a person to even carry such a product let alone send it for shipping to someone.

    cargo service

The product should be put in a box with proper sealing. A bubble wrap should also be used to give added protection to the device. The box to be used should be congested and a perfect fit for the mobile so that the phone doesn’t move during the journey. If it moves, it can cause damage to the device. So, proper packaging is a must when getting the device ready for delivery.

What to look for in a cargo company?

There are a variety of things that must be considered when choosing an efficient and dependable cargo company. A good courier service is very affordable but also provides great service. When a customer has many options to choose from, it chooses the option which is affordable but also gives a sense of reliability.

In case a product is not delivered on time or is lost during its shipping, good customer support provides customers with all the help and guidance that they need. So, timely delivery is a very important factor that customers look into as well when deciding on the service that’s best for them.

What are the custom and duty charges in India?

India charges tax on electronic devices which have been imported from abroad. For mobile accessories, a customs duty of 28% is charged on product arrival. For a tablet or an iPad, the customs duty is 28.8%.

But for mobile phones, the custom and duty charges are approximately 18%. For Example, the new Galaxy Note 10 is priced at £869 and the customs charges for that are approximately £156.

    How much can it cost?

Sending a product for delivery to India might sound very easy, but there are a lot of issues as well that arrive during this whole process. The size of the box in which the phone is placed is usually the same as most phones have boxes of similar size in most cases.

The one thing that affects the overall cost of this whole process is the price of the smartphone. Smartphone prices vary from £200 to even £1000 in some cases. The price of the mobile phone also affects the custom duty charges based on the price of the product.

  • How Britain is tackling African Migrants and exports to the region?

Permanent steps are indispensable in the present condition to ensure stability

Africa is not a place where the population is well fed and has plenty of opportunities to earn their lively hood like Cargo to Africa is a big opportunity to grow the business. Instead, it is a land where poverty rules and children and older sector dies of lack of nutrition. In such a case, people who educate with lots of hard work and facing a bundle of problems do not want to remain in the continent or in their respective country and migrate to other areas which have more opportunities.

In this situation, the welcoming country and in this case Britain is facing problems and they are now starting to think over the situation to improve this crisis which is making their own citizens suffer.

    Main Reasons for Migration:

No one wants to leave the place where he/she is born and live alone while facing trouble and devoid of a decent living place. But not only Africa, other poor countries lacking jobs and decent workstations put their occupiers in such a situation. On one side the job seeking personals are growing and on the other hand, prospects are becoming less and less. In such circumstances, people either go to another country in the continent or travel towards another continent. Lack of industry joblessness is making the people flee from the land because no one can see their family die due to lack of necessities of life which is their right.

    Ray of Hope:

At present, the only hope for the people is the increasing trade international market. But the problem over here is that exchange of goods is not profitable till now as the money earn is again spent to trade for the essential items that are needed for leading a decent life.

So the trade is a positive thing for small Logistic businesses but the overall situation remains the same on the national level and when this condition will improve only then change in the living standard of the citizens occur.

Lack of Infrastructure and Common Welfare:

These two things are the main hurdles which are responsible for poor economic conditions of a country. These problems result in lack of communication and hence no one wants to work for the welfare of a common man, instead, everyone struggles for filling their own pockets. An Intelligent decision by the government of African countries would be to look for flaws within and rectify them to decrease pressure on themselves and on the helping country.

    Direction Britain is following

The UK government is not forcing the immigrants out of its boundaries but it certainly is considering to tight the border conditions for permitting migrants in the country. The country is already in a state of uncertainty due to Brexit due in 2019 and is simultaneously dealing with many affairs and this crucial matter is making things difficult to be handled. Also, UK is urging the African authorities to reach the root cause and eliminate the reason for fleeing of its population.

Industries should be put up to increase job opportunities so that the fresh graduates have a livelihood whenever they finish their university. This permanent solution is the only way which can reduce immigration as handling such a big number of immigrants from every country is not affordable.

How to Calculate the Volume weight?

The volume, weight depends on the dimension of the shipment. The volume, weight formula for the air cargo is calculated by the multiplying of the length, width, height of the package and divided by 6000.

The volume, weight calculating formula is different for the different method of shipping.

    Indecorous packing of the goods

The outer cover of the body saves the internal organs from damage and harm. In the same way the unusual wrapping of the shipment is not proved a healthy protector of the interior items. The packing is the vital element in the process of the shipping. Good packing keeps your products safe from damages and environmental factors. The importing and exporting of the illegal things and the nonpayment of the duty are the major causes of the Customs seizure.

The two previous attempts had failed to free the container ship which had run aground

    What happened?

A container ship had run aground in the Elbe River near Hamburg almost a week ago. The authorities made two attempts previously which had been unfruitful and failed miserably. It is expected to continue its voyage after the rescue.

Many container and cargo ships run aground every now-and-then while they sail to deliver sea cargo to Africa, United State, China, United Kingdom and other countries of the world.

    When the rescue efforts began?

At 2 a.m. local time (o1:00 UTC/GMT), the rescue efforts began and after 20 minutes of extensive efforts the cargo ship CSCL Indian Ocean was freed up. This ship had run aground almost a week ago in the Elbe River about 22 miles northwest of Hamburg. During the rescue attempts the affected section of the Elbe River was closed off to traffic. This operation was facilitated by the south-westerly winds in the North Sea and high tides on a new moon, then there were 12 tugboats that finally released the container ship.

The ship is towed back into the shipping channel and five tugboats pulled it safely to the Hamburg at about 5:30 a.m. local time.

They said after initial check-ups that the steering system was in working order again and they have not found any evidence of any lasting damage. The authorities said that it will take a week for further check-ups and after that the cargo ship may leave Hamburg to continue its voyage on due course.

If you don’t know what teu is then in terms of measurement it is twenty-foot equivalent unit. There are only a few cargo vessels in the world that exceed 19,000 teu.

  • Ethiopian Cargo Hits Below the Belt of Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport continued to hurt from the departure of Ethiopian Cargo services from the airport

In January only, the Belgian airport recorded a big decline in airfreight demand and all happens due to the withdrawal of Ethiopian cargo services from the airport. Till 2015, this airport was one of the real success stories but suddenly saw a decline of 2.4 percent by year on year in January to almost 37 thousand tons.

    Actual situation of Brussels airport

It is not only Ethiopian cargo services caused that big dent to the airport but the full freighter demand also suffered and faced more than 11 percent decline on a year earlier to around 10 thousand tons, while integrator volumes were almost flat at 15,699 tons.

Belly cargo on other hand, remained high by 3 percent to around 12 thousand tons.

    What Brussels airport believes?

The airport said that the full freighter segment of its cargo department was still recovering from the departure of Ethiopian air cargo withdrawal after the carrier did not get the mandatory traffic rights to sustain its operations at the Brussels airport. The airline now nested to dutch hub Maastricht-Aachen airport.

Brussels airport company chief executive, Arnaud Feist believes that growth is all more striking because the air cargo services in Europe looked unwelcoming in the past year.

    Overall situation in the region

Overall, the Brussels was one of the fastest growing airports in the region and it recorded the demand increase of around 8 percent in 2014 to just under half million tons. On other hand, the busiest airport in the area, Frankfurt cargo facility recorded a decline of 2.3 percent on year-on-year in 2015.

Brussels in that particular time remained vigorous with a full year cargo volume growth of 7.8 percent because of the arrival of new cargo carriers and express services at the Belgian airport. It is not only the cargo where Brussels has shown a growth but at the passenger side, it showed an increase of 7 percent and handled more than 23.4 million passengers, an increase of around 15 percent.

    Ethiopian cargo to left Brussels

A spokesman to European cargo hub said that the Ethiopian cargo left the Brussels skies because they did get the air traffic rights to fly over the Belgian territories. In November this year, Brussels airport will no longer remain the home to Ethiopian airlines. The result is full freighter volume will decrease by 25 percent in the last two months compared to 2014.

  • Boeing 747’s Next Stop is Elephant’s Graveyard

Cargo market was the playground of the Jumbo Jet for quiet long but it is having its fall now

Citing the collapse in demand of Jumbo Jets, world’s most renowned aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, has recently stated that it is reducing the number of 747s being produced to only one every two months. The original 747 is best known for its vital role in cargo services, delivering cargo to Africa, major Asian cities, U.S., and other countries around the globe.

Previously, Boeing announced its plans to slow down the production of the 747 jets to just one jet a month from 1.3 jets but now this number has been cut down further. 747-8 is the newest model of 747 that arrived in 2012. It is featuring plenty of new and advanced manufacturing techniques used in 787 and other aircraft which are lighter, newer and cheaper-to-operate.

Boeing has received only 121 new orders and of those, only 51 were in configuration to carry passengers, rest of them are air cargo freighters. The 747 has made a massive contribution to global tourism and cargo services. The 747-400 is a remarkable machine that doesn’t need a touchdown for more fuel on a twelve-hour journey, as an example, Europe to all major Asian cities.

In jet engine manufacturing, significant improvements in power and reliability makes it possible to rival the capacity and range of Jumbo Jet with twin-engine aircraft. That eventually makes the 747 a less attractive buy and more expensive to operate. The 777 passenger carrier is working on the same idea and it can carry more than 450 passengers in some configurations.

According to Boeing, the 2015 was one of the worst year as there wasn’t a single new order for 747 as the cargo operators are not buying anything at all. The air freight demand fall indicates the economic conditions are pretty bad.

For Boeing 747, there is only one permanent customer left and that is none other than the White House. The new 747-8s check all the boxes to serve as presidential transport. This is only reason why the US military still likes quad-engine airliners. They can install anything in it to meet the requirements to keep the POTUS.

  • Ethiopian Airlines: A Real Success Story Of A State Owned Enterprise

South African Airways (SAA) are in a very terrible situation said an internal memorandum on the 6th of November 2015,

It was made public last month that the SAA is technically insolvent and thus mortified of careless and irresponsible trading.  It is also legally obliged under the Companies Act to file for the liquidation of the company. But after the investigation of the SAA failure, it is confirmed that the quality of management was responsible, not the state ownership.

    Ethiopian Airlines, largest African airline

Ethiopian Airline is the fastest growing and largest profitable airline in Africa. The airline has grown at an average rate of around 20 to 25 percent every year. The profits for the fiscal year 2014/15 were amounted to $175 million, which was more than the profits of entire African airlines combined.

    Ethiopian Airlines network

Ethiopian airlines is the most networked African airline because both in terms of schedule routes within the Africa as well as the international destinations. It serves almost 91 destinations internationally, where, 52 destinations in Africa, 15 destinations in Europe and America, however 24 destinations are in Asian countries from Gulf to Tokyo.

It has a youngest and the largest cargo fleet in Africa. It has 68 passenger planes and makes more than 230 departures daily, it is an average of the previous five years.

    Cargo and freight within Africa

The airline has around 1.2 million tonne annual capacity of cargo and freight and it has its major cargo terminal in Addis Ababa, airline hub. This hub is a massive setup and slightly smaller than London Heathrow Airport, which is the 4th largest in Europe.

Ethiopian airline currently covers 48 cargo destinations where the largest  portion comes from Europe and Asia. The major part of cargo to Africa handled by the airline ad it has eight dedicated cargo carriers, however, by 2025, airline has a target to increase the fleet to 18 cargo carriers.

    The success factor

The major success factor of the airline is strategically capturing of entire African market and the establishment of a multi hub system on the continent. The strategy and alliance president of the airline commented that Africa is a massive continent and it was not sufficient to control the continent with one hub.

Thus, the airline bought the failing ASKy airline and Air Malawi and used them as a part of the multi system hub.

  • East African Countries To Use Electonic Cargo Tracking System

Kenya and Rwanda to replicate electronic cargo tracking system previously used by Uganda

Kenya and Rwanda confirm that they are looking to replicate the electronic cargo tracking system (ECTS)this year. This system will ultimately reduce the cost of transporting cargo on the northern corridor. The heads of the state summit in Kigali stated that the process of procurement and installation will be finalized soon to address the issues of cash deposits and overstayed cargo in Mombasa.

What the new system will bring new?

The new system is expected to lower the cost of transportation of cargo and time. It will also reduce the curb thefts of cargo while delivering from one place to another and diversion of goods destined for its market from the port of Mombasa. The revenue authority commissioner of Uganda for customs

The Revenue Authority commissioner for Customs Richard Kamajugo, the framework will enhance the productivity of Customs procedures bringing about higher income accumulations.

    Benefits of electronic tracking system

There will be a pre-entry clearance of goods route before the ship touches base at the port of Mombasa and the containers, which will spare time, said Mr Kamajugo, including that the new framework will likewise give real time data on the area and the status of the payload in travel. Prior to the presentation of the innovation, one could just know the area by calling so as to travel load the driver.

ECTS trigger an alarm whenever there is a diversion from the actual route, it will also inform on every unusual or long stopover and it will even inform the authorities if someone tries to open the containers illegally. The new system will help in sealing the loopholes that cause these countries loss in revenues through suspected under-declaration of the value of the exports and theft of cargo. The electronic tracking system had helped the traders in Uganda to minimize the costs and time of doing business from one week to just one and a half day.

    Costs of the system

When the trucks face delay along the transit route, it costs $200 to $250 per day. Sometime the total cost or maybe a partial cost is passed over the owner of the goods. All this process was increasing the overall cost of goods being transported through this transit route. It was not only because of the unusual stoppages in the corridor, but the distance also was a factor.

The New system will ensure that the countries will get precise information on imports and exports of goods from the port to the destination.
